Thailand beautiful place. I've been there more then a few times and like the mountains the best. Most all the beer there complements the killer food. Some of my scalps are the older designs and some are from the gnarly thai whiskey.
Singha "lion" circa 1997
Singha is the first beer of Thailand. Kicking in at 6%, it is light in color, minimal head, pretty standard for a larger. It's a little bit bitter and at the same time a little bit sweet at the same time. It has a dry finish.


Singha Gold Beer circa 1997
Singha Gold gets my vote for one of the best tasting Thai beers without a heavy dry aftertaste. Unlike its big brother Singha beer, Singha Gold isn't served in every bar or restaurant in Bangkok which is a bummer.

Chang Beer circa 1997
Chang Beer has 6.4 % it's nice and strong. The color of the beer itself is a bit darker than usual what probably explains the bitterness and strong taste. The get drunk quick factor combined with their low prices has made Chang one of the most popular beers in Thailand.


Sang Thip Whiskey circa 1996
Very few things can be compared to a serious binge on Sang Thip. Impossible to drink with anything but Coke, when it is purchased in a bar in Thailand you buy it by the quarter bottle. Needless to say that it is rumored to contain amphetamines in it. I was drinking it in a coke slurpie from a Bangkok 7-11 and much of the afternoon is still a blur and you get a serious crash afterwards.

Mekong Whiskey circa 1996
This whiskey is named after the river that flows through Cambodia and Vietnam. It has similar properties to Sang Thip, but with one notable difference: If you turn the a bottle of Mekhong upside down in a glass of water in such a way that the pressure of the water does not allow the whisky to escape the bottle, a clear liquid will be seen to dribble into the water. This is glycerine, used to artificially boost the alcohol content, which can cause blindness if consumed in large quantities. Stoke!
